Pronounced Ah-too-ee, the name Atooi comes from Watsham's love of Hawai'i. British explorer and cartographer, James Cook, visited the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i in 1778, documenting the locals' name of the island as "Atooi".

Jools has been developing games professionally since 1992 with studios including Storm, Iguana Entertainment, Acclaim, and KingsIsle, having also co-founded Renegade Kid, contributing to the development of over 50 titles with highlights that include the Mutant Mudds series, Xeodrifter, the Dementium series, NBA Jam, and Turok 2.
